A rave is where a group (20 or more) of people gather to listen to extremely loud music being played throughout the night. Raves cause distress to those who live nearby and we will act to ensure they are prevented or stopped as soon as we are alerted.
A person will be guilty of an offence if they fail to leave the site of a rave when instructed by a police officer and also if they return to the site within the following seven days.
If you wish to hold a legal rave, you must obtain a public entertainment licence from the relevant local authority.
If an unlicensed rave is under way or about to begin, report it to us by calling 101. To report an unlicensed rave which is due to take place in the future fill in the Give us Information about suspected crime form.
