Murder charge after woman’s death in Downend

A 68-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Downend over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to an address in Overnhill Road in the early hours of Sunday 27 September.

Jill Billett, 69, was taken to hospital after being found injured, where sadly she died a few hours later.

Geoffrey Billett, of Overnhill Road, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with her murder.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Bristol Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 29 September).

Mrs Billett’s family have been updated and they continue to be supported by specially-trained officers. Our thoughts are with the family, who understandably have asked for people to respect their privacy.
