WANTED: Investigative Transferees
We are currently looking for Investigative Officers and we need you.
Bristol is one of Britain's core cities and the eighth largest. It is a lively, diverse and rapidly expanding city.
Meanwhile, Somerset includes the historic cities of Bath and Wells, coastal areas with a high volume of seasonal tourists and remote rural communities such as Exmoor.
South Gloucestershire and North Somerset have rapidly expanding areas of new housing and commercial development attracting businesses and young families.
All of these combine to provide different and diverse policing challenges.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary has gained a reputation as a pioneering and innovative force.
The BAFTA award winning series, 'The Murder Detectives', was filmed here.
Our excellent rating in the HMIC ‘Valuing the Police’ report demonstrates how we have pulled together as a force, using innovation, collaboration and partnership to make savings, while tackling complex crime and increasing public confidence.
So if you're looking for a fresh challenge and variety, and a genuine opportunity to broaden your experience, Avon and Somerset is the force for you. It's a great place to live too.
If you would like to apply to transfer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
advising us of your contact details and rank.

If you have an excellent attendance record, are high performing and looking for a new challenge, this could be the place for you.
We are looking for the highest quality officers to join our ranks. You will need to be committed to delivering our force values in every way:
What you need to know
We will begin to process your application as soon as we get it. If you are shortlisted, you will be invited for an interview at our Police Headquarters, normally within one week. We will let you know the outcome of the interview within two days. Subject to references and clearance checks, we would hope to see successful applicants taking up their appointments within two months.
Our current Force policy requires officers to live within a 20 mile radius of their station of posting. However, we would advise you strongly not to enter into any lease or purchase of property until we have confirmed a posting.
Our decisions on postings are made on the basis of the requirement for personnel at particular locations. Individual preferences will be noted and we will attempt to accommodate them, depending on the Force's need at the time.
For those officers who currently receive housing or rent allowance in their existing force, our force equivalent allowance to our maximum will be paid. These amounts are as follows:
Salary and leave
Officers are paid in accordance with the national rates. Salaries are paid directly into a bank or building society account on the 28th of each month.
Leave already booked by a successful officer will be honoured for this year, but you must advise us of these dates in writing when you are invited to attend the interview.
If an officer has agreed to carry over leave with their current force for the previous year, we will honour the carry-over of up to 5 days into the current period.
Under most circumstances, pension rights are directly transferable from one force to another.
All applicants will need to attend a medical assessment and a physical fitness test on the day of their assessment.
The fitness test will consist of the following elements:
You can learn more about our fitness test and watch a demonstration video on our Fitness Test page.
